From the initiation of our society, Anandian Astronomical Association is not only an association doing academical activities of its related. As an Astronomical Association most of the parties think the only job is to conduct lecture series, astronomy camps, competitions and other astronomy and educational activities. But we realized that the main purpose of joining to a association in our school life not only to gain the knowledge but also to practice the abilities that society expect from us, specially as a Anandian.
4 year ago with the primary view of this matter Anandian astronomical association organized a “ Kopi Dansala” from where one of the most difficult place to conduct such a “dansala” in “Sri Padaya”. But according to our experiences the place that we chosen is the most suitable place to offer ‘ A hot coffee cup’ because the climate is very cold.
In our journey we spend full two days for this function. Mostly our team is powered by more than 15 participants who were past members and outsiders of our association. We leave from Colombo very morning before the sun rises. Usually our transporting system is train to the destination, Haton. When we lift off from the train we take our meals, have a bath and ready to climb the Sri Pada, the most difficult part of our journey. It takes about 2 or 3 hours and it depends from the experience of the climber.
We reach to our place we ready for our next item .The place is Idikatupana which is 300 steps ahead to the top of the mountain. We start our “kopi Dansala” at about 9.00 pm and it goes up to 3am. After that we climb again to the secret place where in the top of the mountain. After all these things become success we climb down to Nallathanni. It may be 10.00am , when we reach to there.
It is a really great function to enhance the team spirits, connection with members, managing skills and communication skills with people of our members. Here we attached few photographs with that article. Those are captured from our last “Siripada Kopi dansala” held in 25th December 2011.
